Why openLCA?

openLCA is an open source tool, which means the entire source code is transparent.

This does not mean that you have any obligation to publish or make accessible any data you use or models you create in openLCA. Your data and your models are protected. openLCA is a desktop application that does not exchange data with “the outside” unless you explicitly want to.

Share full LCA models, refine existing and pre-built models with parameters and substitutions, push models to onlineLCA and make them accessible to literally hundreds of colleagues.

openLCA is the most versatile LCA and sustainability assessment tool. You can model LCA with all its details and also social LCA and LCC. You can use reference data as you want. You can model in compliance with ISO 14040, 14067, the GHG Protocol, Environmental Footprint, create EPDs compliant with EN15804 and many other standards, or following your own rules.

You can use many different databases with openLCA, big or small. All major LCA databases work in openLCA.

openLCA is an entirely free software. We offer additional databases developed by GreenDelta or others, our policy is to sell these databases without additional fees, for the lowest price. We also offer affordable training and support.

Overall, this leads to an LCA software with low total cost of ownership.

There is of course “click a button and see a barchart” software; openLCA is different. in openLCA, you can use and apply any LCI and LCA modeling you like to drill down to the finest contribution of your model result. Work with parameters, nested models, regionalised modeling, uncertainty simulation, group results by life cycle stages, import from a broad variety of sources, export to many recognised formats. 

Libraries make calculations very fast, and let you handle also huge background databases with ease. And scale this all up with scripts.

All this gives you the power to model what you need and want.
